Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed has made surprising revelations about his exchange with India batter Virat Kohli during their clash at the Champions Trophy 2025.

The right-arm spinner was the only bowler who troubled Indian batters throughout the game, which India eventually won by six wickets.

Abrar Ahmed returned with bowling figures of 1/28 in ten overs, keeping Indian batters including Virat Kohli on their toes with his tight line and length.

The mystery spinner also castled Shubman Gill on a delivery, considered one of the best of the Champions Trophy 2025.

The Pakistan spinner has now reflected on his outing against the archrivals in the blockbuster game.

“My childhood dream of bowling to Kohli has come true in Dubai. It was a great challenge, and I took the liberty of teasing him, asking him to hit me a six, but he never got angry. Kohli is a great batter, we all know that. But he is a great human being too,” Abrar Ahmed said while speaking to a private media outlet.

The 26-year-old recalled Virat Kohli’s heartfelt gesture after their Champions Trophy 2025 game ended in Dubai on February 23.

“He said, ‘well bowled’ after the match, and that made my day. I grew up idolising Kohli, and I used to tell under-19 players that one day, I would bowl to him,” Abrar Ahmed said.

The Pakistan spinner also lauded the former India captain for his fitness and quick running between the wickets.

“Kohli’s fitness is outstanding. The way he runs between the wicket is eye-catching and that’s what makes him a unique cricketer,” he said.
